What's new

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I just received my Barbershop, Cool and Sandalwood soaps from Stirling. He also sent me a sample of Anise. They all smell great! Which would you guys try first? Happy shaving. David

Same thing happened to me when I ordered my barrister and Mann. I turned the labels away so I couldn't see what they were and did a sniff test.

I would love to hear how the sandalwood compares, scent-wise, to other sandalwood soaps such as Proraso Red and AOS sandalwood. Also, how strong is the licorice scent in the Anise?

That is interesting because I believe that the Stirling and Art of Shaving sandalwoods smell very different. That being said the Stirling has very little fragrance at all even when wet. I keep my soaps in a sealed container so I really don’t think I am loosing the “smell.” The Ansise has a very strong licorice smell. I shave before I shower so it really doesn’t bother me, but if you did it the other way around it might linger awhile. I hope this helps. Happy shaving. David

CodeCheck - thanks for the sandalwood comparison. I had hoped for a stronger sandalwood scent out of the Stirling since I will soon be needing to replace my puck of tallow AOS sandalwood. While the Anise sounds interesting, I'm still trying to decide whether I like licorice that much.

The Anise and the Cool are two of my favorite Stirling soaps. The cool is a really great minty soap. There aren't many successful mint scented items out there in my opinion, and Rod's is a winner. The Anise is just insanely good in every way.
