DE shaved in the morning for the first time

I've been evening shaving since I started with the DE due to the time it takes but I wasn't able to manage it last night.

So I set my alarm even earlier today and was up at 05:20 to try and get a shave in before work.

I normally average around half an hour for my shave but today I managed a full three pass shave plus touch up in just twenty minutes. The only thing I skimped on was taking the razor apart and cleaning it all at the end. I've made a point of doing that after every shave but today I just dropped it into the mug and left. I'm sure that doesn't take ten minutes normally so I must have knocked some time off the actual shave.

The shave was great, Indian Old Spice cream, face lathered. I had to add a little extra to the brush for my third pass but it was all good. I think I'll try setting the alarm to 05:30 for tomorrow and see how it goes as I had plenty of time today.

Excellent! Congratulations! I always shave in the morning (not THAT early though).

I only clean (a proper cleaning, y'know) my razor when I change blade. Just rinse it daily.

Congrats! I usually shave after my shower which is always in the morning. If I have a new product that I'm trying, I will often shave the night before, so I have more time to consider the product and experiment a little, as I'm usually a tad rushed in the morning and can't fully focus on the new product.

I think experience helps with the time thing too, of course. When I first started it was a good half hour for two passes. Now I can get that same two pass shave done in about 15 minutes.

Nice, I am on the road to work at 5:30... I couldn't get my act together to shave that early...

Must feel nice.

Good lord. I'm just going to bed about 3 hours before you guys are on the road. I cant handle getting up before 8am lol

This sounds familiar, I have to set the alarm clock 15 minutes earlier to DE-shave after a decent shower than with the former cartridge shave which was done in 5 minutes or so. Now I find it very comforting to take my time and concentrate a bit on a proper shave. The best thing is the splashing my face with ice-cold water afterwards before applying some balm. I used to hate cold water!
I noticed I'm really more refreshed and awake and even happy for the morning drive to work!

As we gain more practice, it gets even easier and faster. It took 4 or 5 months, but if needed I can pull off a 3 pass DE shave now in 10-15 minutes. I even manage a straight razor shave before work in the morning without having to allow extra time. That was the one that amazed me. lol

Morning sleep is such a precious thing, but a morning shave is one of the very few things that is worth giving my precious sleep time for. It's my 15 minutes as a king. Seriously, if there is no other way to get time to yourself in a day... Getting up 15 minutes earlier is my favorite way to make time for myself.

+1 Totally agree. I've never had an easier time waking as I do after making the switch to DE shaving a year ago.

Look'in good, grasshopper.

Cleaning up your razor if you are short on time is not a necessity. You may notice a little soap scum build up after a while but a soft tooth brush with your razor under running water will fix that up quickly.

It's the passing of little milestones such as this that all add up to being well groomed all the time.
