D.R. Harris Windsor - First Impressions

Yesterday, I had my first shave with a sample of D.R. Harris Windsor cream.

The scent was subtle and very masculine. Not "sporty" like the more heavily citrus scents I usually prefer, but not overwhelmingly woodsy either (I don't care for cedar or sandalwood scents, for example.)

More impressive to me was the cream itself: incredibly easy to lather, and thick! My first impression is that it's a nicer, more protective lather than the T&H Ultimate Comfort I'd been using as my standard. It certainly took less time to lather with a similar amount of product.

I may shave with it again today before moving on to the CF lime that is the next sample in line to try.

What do the rest of you think of the D.R. Harris Windsor, and the rest of their line of creams?

What is the Arlington like? The description on their site makes it sound like a bit more pronounced citrus scent. Is that correct?

Arlington is amazing! Nice masculine sent that reminds me of TOBS Eton College. Just got a DR Windsor yesterday and will try it out Saturday when Arko August ends.

Yes, Windsor is a wonderful new add to their collection, very discreet. I think Arlington is much more stronger (well, I personnaly hate it, it reminds me of a pharmacist's smell), but even though I don't like it, I still think their products are veeery good. Oh and when you read citrus, be careful not to take it as "limes", it's absolutely not the same thing. The CF limes is one of my favorites, smells like a lime sorbet !

Glad to hear, Nick! Harris does make a very fine line of shaving creams and its soaps are even better!

I've tried quite a few creams, but not all by a long shot, but I find D.R. Harris creams to be the absolute best so far for me.

I have all 5 of the Harris soaps, but sold the one Harris cream I tried. I can't remember why I didn't like the cream.

I've never smelled TOBS Eton College so I don't have that point of reference.

However, a very generous B&B member is sending me a towelette of the Arlington cologne, so I can see if I like the scent or not. If I do, I'll probably order a tub of both the Windsor and the Arlington. I was really impressed with the volume of lather and the comfortable shave with the D.R. Harris cream.

Arlington does not smell anything like Eton College IMO. I do like both though.

If you are going to order Windsor and Arlington why not try 1 cream and 1 soap so you can compare?

Just because I'm using only creams at the moment. I may try soaps someday, but I'm still testing blades and working on my technique, so I'm following the newbie mantra of not changing too many variables at the same time.

Hi there, I smelled the arlington again and it's not taht bad. IMO, it's not like Eton College, and it smells a lot like the flower "jasmine", if you know what it smells...

I tried the Windsor cream yesterday for the first time. Scent was very subtle, unlike Arlington, which explodes with notes of citrus and fern. I love Arlington's clean scent, which for me, lingers long after the shave. I struggled to identify the scent in Windsor, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective. On the performance side, I found Windsor and Arlington very similar in lubricity and lather richness. Overall, great shave, but not impressed with the scent.

I really enjoy the scent of Windsor . It's a bit less strong than Arlington and way less strong than Marlborough which is good with me.

The scent of Windsor is subtle when compared to both the Arlington and Marlborough (particularly the Marlborough), but great nevertheless.

I just received a tub of Windsor for my anniversary. After 2 shaves, I would agree with Mad Dog: first rate performance and a scent that's pleasant but a bit too subtle for me.

I received my sample the other day of Windsor and have used it the past two days. The performance is top notch like with other D.R. creams, but I am not a fan of the scent. The scent is light and does not last long, but what is there is just not pleasant to me.
