D.R. Harris Scents

Taking a leaf from Henry's book, I am going to add to my Cologne collection. :001_cool: Nothing crazy, nothing even mildly expensive but another from Harris. I am purchasing a Sandalwood AS as a gift for a friend and with shipping costs and the relative weakness of the £ at the moment, it makes sense to me to add another bottle for myself whilst I am shopping. I have Shave Soap and Cologne in Arlington which I enjoy very much and am wondering if the good folk here have experience with other Harris scents; Marlborough, Albany, Classic Cologne, Mayfair, Freshening Cologne or Traditional Cologne? If you would care to share your thoughts, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

I have or had in the recent past, the following Harris fragrances...

Arlington
Traditional Cologne
Mayfair

Out of the three, Arlington is the clear winner. A nice light, clean fragrance.

Traditional Cologne is an excellent Eau de Portugal when smelling straight from the bottle, but it is very weak with abysmal staying power on me. Had to sell this one.

Mayfair is the opposite..very, very strong. Easy does it with this one! The fragrance is okay. Sort of a sweet floral that is masculine. Overapplication makes this one smell like candy or a girl. Honestly, my daughter sometimes wears this one. :blushing:

I've been meaning to try the rest of the Harris line, so I'm interested to see the rest of the responses here.

I have the Lavender Water,I really can't smell anything after putting it on,I think they forgot the Lavender and just gave me the water.

You got a bum batch, Paul. My Harris Lavender is kick-in-the-'nads strong.

The Lemon and the Lime are both very nice but they are classic citrus EdC's--meaning they are bright and shiny but only last a few minutes. I threw mine in my lake/camping gear ages ago, as nice tonics.

If you get them as part of a larger order from the Mother Ship in London you can get the 1 oz bottles, which are only like $12. Good way to sample them.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. The weather here has turned cool and damp- it has made me think of something like "Marlborough" rather than a lighter summer scent.

To me Marlborough is offensive, terrible stuff. Honestly I could not give it away.
Arlington is one of my all time favorites.

Be sure to sniff the sandalwood before you gift it! I have it, and it is great!!

Absolutely... the Harris Sandalwood is one seriously fine AS.. I wish there was an EDT with this exact scent.
Excellent bracing effect after shaving too.

The essence stays with me for a while too - longer than some (most) EDCs.

The aftershave is sufficiently strong to use as an edc; I do. And the one bottle is handy for traveling.

I'll pay shipping on any and all Marlborough donations.

Not to be confused with the cigarette, Marlborough AS & cologne are all woods. The DR Harris Sandalwood AS is very, very nice. I like the Arlington, but like any citrus, it is short on longevity.

My experience is that for the price DR Harris stuff is hard to beat.
