comparing injectors

I've shaved with a Schick type E (closest shave yet) and one of the L types (pretty mild.) I thought the J type was in-between.

Where does the "Golden 500" type J rank? Same as other J types?

I really like the "Hydro-Magic" lever for cleaning, but that E shave is pretty addictive. As long as you go slooooowly.

I have the Golden 500, and an L type. The 500 is more aggressive than the L, for sure. I can't say how the 500 compares to other J injectors, since it's the only one I have, but I can't imagine it's any different. I think it's just a gold plated version of the regular injector. My 500 gives a fabulous, close shave.

I'm partial to the adjustable Type M's, set to 7, followed by the Type E, then G. The Hydromatic was milder yet but still a good shave. I have used my Type C Repeater but it comes in last, more due to wanting to preserve it than the shave. The later ones I have tried were too mild

On that same website, you'll notice that the J3 and J4, (Golden 500 and Schick 500) and all the type Ks (Lady Eversharp) also have the Hydro-Magic Lever. I have the type I2 which does have it; the I1 does not.

I get about equally good shaves from the types E, G, and the Schick adjustable set to 8, with the I2 and J1 not far behind.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the Hydro-Magic lever was continued beyond the Type I model. I just thought it was something they tried out really briefly, and then gave up on.
