CO Bigelow vs. Proraso

I'm sorry....

This stuff is no way the same. I can't stand Bigelow. Proraso is nice. They may be made by the same company, but they are not the same cream. I know many will argue this. That's okay. This is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Bigelow seemed to have no menthol at all. And, it lathered like Crisco.

I find Proraso lathered effortlessly, smelled pleasant and actually had menthol in it.

I've got both tubes as well. Seem identical to me. Maybe I'm just duped by the fact that the Bigelow tube specifies that it is made by Proraso

Maybe you just got a bum tube. My C.O. feels like I've just dunked my head in a vat of menthol, and lathers much better than almost any of my other creams. The only way you could imagine that this stuff has no menthol is if you're that guy on the BBC that was impervious to the cold... Such a lucky disease.

I'm not trying to be a jerk but are you sure that you're using the right Bigelow? They make a number of shave foams or foaming shaves or whatever they're called. I don't think that those have anything in common with Proraso. But the Bigelow cream in the green tube seems to me to be exactly the same as Proraso in the tube.

Yeah, maybe you got a bad one? I haven't tried Proraso in Proraso packaging but I have the Bigelow and it's exactly how you described the Proraso. Plenty of menthol, lathers perfectly and smells nice.

If I forgot something...forgive me...

I don't know how to quote multiple ppl and respond.

No one is being a jerk, I don't feel that way. Yes, I had the right one. True, I could have had a bum tube. Very true. I may try it again. That is, with another tube.

Out of curiousity...has anyone compared Bigelow and Proraso at the same time? Not like one side of your face with each, but like I got rid of my Bigelow, so I'm going off memory. If I had it, I'd lather up with it tomorrow for comparision. It seemed to have a different smell and everything though.

I know it's made by Proraso, for Bigelow....did I say that right? Anyways, this doesn't mean it has to be the same forumla for each.

Many insist that it is the same.

That's why I was saying will argue this.

I will admit my comparison isn't quite fair as I am going off pure memory. Just an observation.

Now, some of us will have to try a direct comparison.

I don't think Bigelow is that much cheaper either, is it? I suppose the only benefit is nearly everyone has a B&BW near them to be able to get it.

Ok. I have both. A tube or Proraso and a tube of Bigelow. No difference by my assessment. That said, like all products there's bound to be some variability from time to time so "exactly the same" may no mean the same as "consistently the same". I think we've all had a fountain Coke that tasted awful and others that were perfect. I suspect it's a matter of the quality control at Proraso that determines the variability.

From what I understand, when Target was carrying Proraso it was supposed to be a different formulation from the European cream. This stuff then became the CO Bigelow cream when Target stopped carrying Pro. Any truth to this, or have I come by some bad info?

To quote multiple people and respond to each, hit the "multiquote off" button at the bottom right of each post that you'd like to quote. It will change from "multiquote off to "multiquote on". When you are ready to actually start replying to them, either hit "Post Reply" or on the final one that you'd like to quote, hit the "quote post" button instead of "multiquote".

Makes some sense. Probably true. Look at Cadbury chocolate. It's so different than what you'd get in UK.

Thanks! Got it figured out.
