Proraso Blue

Anyone else here besides me that enjoys the Proraso Blue? I wanted to have at least one shaving cream for sensitive skin. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the White, and then stumbled across the Blue. I like that it has aloe and vitamin E. I’m also shocked that it’s glycerin based. I generally favor the tallow based products because I feel they provide a slicker, richer lather, Cella Red being my favorite. I’ll be damned if the Proraso Blue didn’t provide a lather that easily rivaled the Cella. I even like the scent, which some seem to take exception to. The Blue balm is pretty good too. Think I might have found a new favorite. Really enjoying it.

I shaved today with my Feather A/C DX. I have some Feather Pro blades for it, but stopped using them in favor of Kai blades because I initially found them to be harsh, and they gave me really bad razor rash on my neck. Well, I dared to use one of the Feather blades today in conjunction with the Proraso Blue and no razor rash! The stuff actually works! Granted, I’ve been using the DX for a few weeks now and feel I’m finally getting my technique down, so I’m sure that played a role as well, but I‘m convinced the Proraso Blue made a difference in the outcome of the shave.

This shaving cream is based on stearic acid and coconut oil which are the main ingredients. It's not really glycerin based.

If you like the regular Cella, you might like the Cella Extra Extra Bio, which is vegetable based with a very short list of good ingredients. It performs really well and is formulated for sensitive skin.

I picked up a tube of blue on a whim. It's a great shave cream.

About the only thing I don't like about it is that the metal tube tends to get small holes in it and it leaks a tad. Oh and make sure you don't squeeze the tube in the slightest when you have the cap on otherwise you end up with an unexpected shot of cream when you take the cap off.

Indeed, Blue is Great!

I’m a fan of the blue too. So far I’ve only bought the one tube and haven’t used it as often as other creams/soaps/croaps in the ever-expanding collection. However, it is a cream I can see myself investing in another tube of unlike some of the others in the collection.

Proraso Green is a summer staple here, but I pulled out the blue tube this morning for a change of pace. @sarimento1 's inspiration had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I personally can't discern any performance or post-shave difference between them without doing a shave off or something.

Same here. It's cheap to keep a tube around, and offers a great shave with an inoffensive/widely-applicable scent. Firmly in the "can't go wrong" camp, even if not a personal favorite.

If Cella (bio or tallow) or Proraso ever copied Palmolive's scent without changing their respective formulas, that's possibly all I would ever use.

Proraso Blue is great stuff. Had a sample years back but didnt really give it a fair shot as was not crazy about the scent at first, it grows on you after a while. Picked up a tube a few months ago (a long with Lidder and some other creams less than $2) it does have great skin feel post shave.
