Clinique "scruffing lotion"?

What the heck is that stuff? Some kind of toner? Or just an attempt to get guys to shell out money on "3-step" rather than "2-step" skin care? scruffing

Both of the above. In theory, Scruffing Lotion helps to remove dead skin cells that cleansing alone leaves behind. A Clinique saleswoman at Nordstrom said that in her experience, the stuff can actually remove nail polish. Whether or not that's true, Scruffing Lotion - indeed, the whole Clinique 3-Step regimen - harkens back to the bad old days, when it was believed that completely stripping the skin of all natural moisture barriers, then slathering on a mineral-oil based moisturizer over this stripped skin, somehow constituted skin care. I love how the ad copy says "formulated by leading dermatologists." Perhaps, but if so, they were leaders in their field back in the 1960s. I'd like to think we've evolved a bit since then.

I don't know anything about scruffing lotion, but I really enjoy the Clinque Soap for Men. It's 10 dollars but it lasts for months and months. I've been using it less and less as I've gotten into wetshaving but before that it was the only thing that kept my acne at bay when I was still in my teens.
