Cheap Anti-Fog solution for mirrors: use shaving foam!

Hello, gents,

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I think a lot of people would benefit from this trick. I've already tested it, and it works 100% of the time.

Here's the video.

For those who don't want to watch the video:

- Simply apply some shaving foam on the mirror and rub it with a towel/toilet paper until it comes off. It will leave a fine, invisible layer which will prevent it from fogging. You can use this technique even when the mirror is foggy/wet already!

Enjoy!

No dollar stores in Nova Scotia? I'm sure the supermarkets and drug stores still carry it. Look around.
 Really I am just worried that if I buy something like a shaving foam again after all these years, my bank might flag the purchase as suspicious activity, assume my wallet has been stolen, and lock all my accounts!

Edit: Just about any soap will do this task well enough. I have a hand soap that I put onto the mirror once in a while and then gently squeegee it off to keep the fog away. The only time when foggy mirrors are a bad problem is when shaving in the shower, which I just think is a bad idea all round.

When I first started buying shaving supplies overseas (Russia, China, etc) my bank flagged my purchases.

And you are correct, there are many products that work fine for defogging the mirror. It is a good use for old shave foam, though, if you have any lying around. (Of course I wouldn't go buy it just for that purpose.)

I shave in the shower and I don't have a serious fog problem. Sometimes I dab a bit of my shampoo/conditioner/whatever lather I'm using on the mirror. The key for me is keeping the mirror under the spray for 20-30 seconds before starting to shave. That typically keeps the mirror fog-free for most of the shave. I might have to give it another quick blast for my final pass.

I do this with the same Barbasol Arctic Chill I use for shaving in the shower during the work-week (still with a DE). Seems to last about 2-3 showers before needing to be re-applied, but it is close enough to the water stream that it sees some stray splashing.

This is just begging for a poll...

Soap or cream to defog a mirror?
Bowl or mirror lather?
Which is your favorite soap for defogging?

Rain X brand anti fog works better and lasts longer.

I thought this was discontinued. Good to see it is still around. I have a tub of old school Fog X (my Father bought it many years ago for his glasses) and it is still working fine. Probably have a couple years left on this tub. Unfortunately it seems to have been discontinued many years ago. I use it once a month or so (I should use it more often) and fill in with soap when it starts to falter.
