C.O. Bigelow and Proraso

Hello all,

I've recently lost my Proraso green and am wanting to replace it. There's a bath and bodyworks store pretty close and I know they carry the C.O. Bigelow (which I gather is rebranded Proraso). IS the C.O. Bigelow the new formaula, or the old formula of Proraso? Just wondering. Thanks!

Cool. Thanks! I've only shaved with the new formula, so this should be a fun comparison.

I think C.O. Bigelow is being phased out. Bath and Bodyworks does not seem to have it in their stores anymore. As new Bigelow is made , if they continue with it, it will have to be the new Proraso formula since they are the makers of Bigelow.

I just came to ask this same question... good timing, and good to know! I wanted to find out if it's literally the same Proraso product in a Bigelow tube, or was it different... I want to get some Proraso, but will need to order it online. I got C.O. Bigelow at Bath & Body about a month ago, and do like it a lot. And B&B always has that buy 2, get 1 free sale with it... so 3 big tubes for $20, as opposed to to $10 a tube plus shipping per Proraso tube. If it's being phased out, I guess now is the time to stock up!

The Ludovico Martelli Company is the maker of both. :wink2:

I think whether it is stocked varies from store to store. They quit stocking it in AL before I left, but the store at the Dover Mall has 2 full shelving units dedicated to C.O.B. items, including both cream sizes and the foam. They have a relatively large men's section though so it may just depend on how many men's products the store wants to stock.

I asked the local(Baltimore, MD) BBW manager if they were getting any new formula CO Bigelow shaving cream. She said in the back she had a poster of all the new CO Bigelow products, I was excited, hoping to hear they were getting the new formula cream in. She came back with a disappointing no, she didn't see any new shaving cream on the list. But they did have a decent supply of the normal CO Bigelow line, guess I will have to get a couple tubes.

i cannot confirm if true but my brother is like 90% sure he saw the NEW proraso cream at the BBW store in the staten island mall

maybe they will just carry proraso instead of labeling it c.o. bigelow?

That would be a dream come true..especially if they sell the tubs.

Unless they have been on the shelf for a long time I think they are identical formulas. I have both and cannot tell the difference. The COB I bought at Bath and Body Works for 10 USD about two weeks ago. It looks like the new formula is getting on the shelf.

Can you check the ingredients? The new formula does not contain parabens while the old formula does.

Some time past, another poster has inquired of C.O. Bigelow and was told it would be September before the new formula started hitting the shelves.
I'm too lazy at the moment to look for the post, but IIRC it was in Marco's Proraso New Formula thread.

No ingredients on the tube and I no longer have the box so I cannot confirm if it is paraben free. However, it smells and performs exactly like the latest Proraso formula from my perspective.

I was at the mall today & since my wife wanted to go into BBW, I checked out the man shelf. I picked up some CO Bigelow because I'd read the BBW shaving cream was pretty good. I'm mostly a cake soap guy, so I wanted to try it. Haven't yet, but when I saw this thread, I pulled the box of the top of the trash (eww). I couldn't find "paraben" listed on the ingredients, if that helps anyone.

Were Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, and Butylparaben listed?
