Bull Mastiff NEW head variations post your pics!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Bull Mastiff with both a Tech and a NEW head as a retirement gift for a friend and wanted to know what the different Gillette New heads look like and if any members can comment on difference in the shave. I have seen the NEW short comb and the standard NEW, but no pictures with the NEW Deluxe or "Goodwill New" head.

Probably can't go wrong with any of the options out there but wanted to get a little more insight before I place the order.

I have a custom Bob special with a Good Will head (different handle - but same idea). I have also used a tech Gillette. The long comb new is aggressive; the tech mild. I REALLY like custom razor. I doubt any production razor is better. This is truly a unique item, and highly recommended.

Oh - and the short comb New head is a mild shave. To summarize;

1. Tech Head = mild shave
2. Short Comb New = mild shave
3. Long Comb New = aggressive shave

Interesting information on the Bull Mastiff heads DreadPirate.

I bought a Deluxe Bull Mastiff (DBM) recently from Bob and just relieved a B&B member of a Bull Mastiff Mark II on the Trade Forum. I had a few minor problems with the Goodwill New head on my DBM. It has the same long teeth as the regular Long Tooth New but the top cap on the head has a "fiddly" blade locking system that may have contributed to some nicks and razor burn. The Mark II I just bought has the regular New Lon Tooth head so I will get the chance to compare the two and report back.

I do have a New Short Tooth head that I tried on my DBM handle this AM. My early experience supports DreadPirates's assertion that it gives a milder shave than the Long Tooth New.

I wonder how the New Improved head compares to the other heads? I have read that some think the old style heads need shimming. The Improved New uses the same posts to align the blade but I believe the blade holding system is beefed up and may cure any problems with the more modern blades?

Order placed for a Bull Mastiff Deluxe with 3 interchangeable heads. (New long comb, New short comb and Tech) I just couldn't decide on one, so I'm jumping in with both feet and will report back with photos and observations. Should hopefully have the set by the end of the month.

The Old Type Gillette needs no shimming to use with modern blades, I use one daily with no problems at all.
The New Improved is a different design and the blade sits more the same way as the NEW and later Gillettes.....It's like a NEW without the modern slotted blade holder.....if that makes sense.
