Broken Progress

The small metal collar that fits inside my Progress is broken in two. Not sure how to describe the part I'm talking about - if you dismantle the razor for cleaning it's the small ring that goes just above the white knob. Don't know how that happened as I rarely take it apart.
Is it possible to get this repaired?

I've read posts where people have contacted Merkur when they had problems and got positive results.
Try emailing them - can't hurt.

That's the retaining ring, it's sole purpose is to prevent the knob assembly from falling out when you change blades.
Mine bent so I toss it long ago.

Done that.

Still no remedy has been offered by dovo. I have gotten used to it, so it has not become a big deal.

Thanks for the replies fellas. So, in short, I can just toss the retaining ring away and it won't make a blind bit of difference to the razor?

What are you guys cleaning?

I'm a mechanical disaster, so would not dream of taking out the bit with the Knob for any reason. Have had my Progress for more than 2 years and use it about 3-4 times a week, never been cleaned apart from a wipe with a damp flannel when the blade is changed.

I chucked that ring a while back. Of course I recently bought an Amboyna Burl knob from Bob and have not even considered replacing the ring with the new knob. BLUF that ring is useless.
