Bowls at Target hold C&E soaps perfectly

At the mall last week, I bought some refill pucks of C&E soaps, but I couldn't bring myself to spring extra for the wooden bowl (as nice as they are). So yesterday, I found these little bowls with covers from Target and the soap can be squeezed in to fit quite snugly. Plus they have lids. The best part, they were only $5 for the 3 pack.

Nice find:thumbup1: . Have you tried lathering in them though? It looks like a tight fit. I bowl lather, but when soaking the puck I want to make sure theres enough room for the water to cover it. Plus I like how plastic is dishwasher safe. The wooden bowls look like they could get grungy after a while

No, I use them much like the wooden bowls they come in. Just enough water to get my brush loaded up with the soap. Then I either face lather or build up the lather in a separate bowl. I have a puck of Col Conks Bay Rum in a mug, and I've tried to lather in that, but find that a separate bowl is easier.

Those are some nice looking bowls! I might have to head to Target and see what I can find.

The GF recently took a trip to Denver and picked me up a wooden bowl of C&E Sienna soap. I have to say that I am very pleased with the quality of this soap, but I still can't bring myself to buy custom bowls. If I can find these glass ones I might have to pick up the entire line of C&E! As far as being a tight fit, the soap looks just like it does in the wooden bowl. Custom bowls are made to look nice and carry the brand logo, they serve no practical purpose.

I just picked up some C&E Sienna for the first time as well. Can't say I like the other C&E scents but Sienna is great and I love shaving with it. I daresay I almost like it better than AoS Sandalwood.

Anyway, I was debating over getting the bowl or not and just decided to go for it. Now it sits on top of my AoS bowl. I figured I could probably find a bowl for it but didn't want to deal with it. Now I wish I had seen this thread before hand!

Great bowls, I picked up the 3 pack and melted a few soaps down into them. Work great! cover is not air tight so the can still dry out after you load up (I live in AZ, everything can dry out :001_smile).

Has anyone done a comparison to the Anchor Hocking bowls? These look like they would work better because the soap sits nicely on top.

I use the Anchor Hocking and from the looks of these, they have a little more room on top. I too let the water soak into the soap for a bit before loading it onto the brush, and it looks like there isn't a whole lot or room on the sides to accomodate some swirling action here.
Perhaps they work best with face lathers, but maybe not as well if you load the brush then whip it in a bowl...
Can anyone speak to this and have directly compared?
The AH bowls were only a buck or two more and also had lids also at Target...

I find no need to soak a C&E puck. (Or any puck) Just make sure the brush is wet and get to work. The brush loads up fast and then can be lather either in a bowl or on the face.

I have had a C&E wooden bowl for three years now. No funk to it but there is little wearing away of the finish. Gives it character.

I've been using the Anchor Hocking 2 cup versions (with blue lids). They are a little more roomy, which I like, than those tiny custard models that Target sells.

Are the C&E soaps the only ones that would fit this well in those bowls, or are there any other refill soaps that would be such a nice fit?

I face-lather and I don't soak the puck, so the little space at the top is negligible.

Well, I just picked up a puck from C&E of the sandlewood (smells fantastic), and When we were at target, I picked up a 3 pack of the bowls/dishes u had. PERFECT FIT!! I dont think the C&E soaps fit in the C&E bowls that well!!!

FYI, in case you weren't already aware they are having a 'buy one, get one at 50% off' over at the C&E stores and online.
There is a coupon in the deals section that gives you free shipping if you spend $25.
If their pucks didn't last forever and a day I'd be tempted to buy more :)

Good point MB, I forgot to mention the 50% off. SWMBO said I would be sleeping on the couch if I got 2 .

I did get a little foam around the edges when I lathered up the Nomad on Saturday, but not enough to make me worry. After pressing the pucks in as far as I could make them go, there was just enough room to put about a TB of water on top while I showered.

I couldn't resist and bought a Nomad and a Sienna because of the deal. At checkout, the cashier gave me a $10 gift certificate that I can use the first week of August. So there's likely another trip in my future!
