Bought New 56 Best Badger

I ordered my first Simpson brush Friday night and was delivered on Monday, a 56 Best Badger. Fast free delivery from WCS. Already used it to face lather with it early this morning and worked like a charm. Love the handle on it, very ergonomic and long enough to bowl lather with also. These are the stats I came up with, not exactly what is posted on websites but I am ok with it.

Handle diameter: 31mm
Knot diameter: 20mm
Handle height: 49mm
Bristle height: 43mm
Total height: 92mm

I love the 55 and 56--nice choice! I wish they made these handles in large size versions. And I'm not talking about the rest of the Fifty series. The proportions of the two smaller models are different and, to my eye, more pure or classic.

I have the small and large sizes, and the proportions are pretty consistent.

You would know better than I, beginish, since you own all the Fifties, but this is my observation:

On the 55, the upper portion of the brush defines lines that fit "inside" the base grip ring. Illustrated as such:

The 58, on the other hand, has a lower grip ring that is smaller in diameter than the outlines defined by these lines.

I don't find this as appealing.

The same observation applies to the Chubby line. Many of the hand turned Chubbies resembled the 55 in this sense, however the exact examples that Simfix has used for their CNC do not follow these lines.

Fair enough. In use, they both work and feel just fine. IMHO, the Fifties are Simpsons' most ergonomic and versatile handle style.

Ty gentlemen. I really like the comfort of the brush and the control I have when lathering my face. It's so pretty too. I want to also thank beginish for taking the time to personally answer some questions that helped me with my decision to buy it. its a keeper :)
