Bodum double wall pour over - whoo hoo

I didn't want to say anything until I got it in my hot little hands but I found a 4 cup Bodum double wall pour over on that auction site that was NOS. These are notorious for breaking during shipping which is why Bodum stopped making them.

Made a pot of Ethiopian this evening and it was fantastic. A little inventive fold and a Chemex filter fits in it as it has a large hole in the glass funnel. The whole is larger than what Chemex uses but not so big that the filter and coffee slide down into the pot.

Now for the fun part... The pics....

Have you had a chance to test out the insulating property of the double wall? Looks like a nice way to make coffee for two, or a couple of cups for one's self.

I've used it every day for our evening coffee, making 4 cups (two each). 36 grams of coffee to 36 oz of water seems to be the ticket with it. The second cup for both of us is nice and warm so it works as it should.

I have had a Bodum double wall french press for years that we use occasionally but I think this insulated pour over will be the one we use for most of our evening coffee from now on.

Unacceptably Lasering Chicken Giblets?
I can drink coffee all day if I don't watch myself.
You have many nice "brewers".
Enjoy!

ok don't tell me THAT is in your back yard? coffee, wet shaving, a giant lake......it's like a resort!

Yep, that's our back yard and that little speck on the other shore is our nearest neighbor. $jumelles.gif

It'll look a little different in a few months when everything freezes solid and the ice fishing shacks get set up on the pond. That's when the "real" partying starts

Very nice brewer, and very nice locale too. I've always had a soft spot for anything Bodum, and I have to say this one has really peaked my interest. I've tried to find one........... wow, talk about scarce! The only source is Australia it seems. A store there looks like it has a stack of them, NIB. Hmmm.......wonder if they ship to Canada? :tongue_sm

Bodum stopped making them because they had such a high breakage rate in shipping (something like 30-40%). I was amazed that the one I bought got here without any damage.

Sweet Maria's has some pretty good info about it.

You can scroll down to the Bodum Bistro in this page where they talk about the breakage rate they had with them

I can tell you I am ubere careful with mine as I don't want to spend ages looking for another one should I bonk it against the counter when pouring a cup out of it.
