Beer of the Day - BOTD - 2021

Continuing with the cherry theme, and Belgians....

Better than what I was expecting. I thought I would get more of a tangy bitterness, but it just wasn't there; reminded me of a soda. Very easy drinking.
I'm pretty impressed with the beers from Chouffe. Good introduction to Belgians.

Hubbard's Cave French Toast is an imperial stout with an APV of 12.
Notes: Imperial Stout w/ Cinnamon, Maple Syrup, Vanilla, and Lactose.

If you don't like sweet stouts you want to skip this one. A tasty beer with lovely cinnamon and maple, and it doesn't drink too boozy despite the 12%, but one pint is always enough 12% APV for me.

Since I've been... well, okay... I THINK I've been good this year... I've been buying myself a few presents. This one's from my favorite brewery, New Glarus....

A nice, heavy stein. Glass blanks from Italy, and final touches/assembly from Germany. Got the Spotted Cow stein, too. The lid will undoubtedly save countless little flies and gnats that insist on sampling my imperial stouts and porters; one sip is usually instantly fatal to them.

I shared a crowler of Marlowe's Eager to Share last night. A lovely beer and very drinkable.

Notes: Eager to Share is brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops. A smooth little pale ale with a snappy hop presence showcasing intense aromatics, a hint of balanced bitterness that fades into full, ripe melon flavors, balanced with a full mouthfeel from grist and a studious water profile.

Keep an eye open for Snow Pilot; stuff from Point Brewing is making it way to you.

It sounds almost ridiculous to consider, but DON'T pass up Point's Milkshake Malt Porter. Very nice!

I took down a few from a New Belgium mixed case this afternoon/evening, don’t even know what they were and they didn’t stand out that much but did the trick at the end of a long week… happy friggin Friday

Bad day, jesseix? If so, sorry... hang in there!

I don’t know why. It’s a Christmas beer. Sometimes at endurance MTB events I drink pickle juice to avoid cramping. I took a MTB ride earlier today. The woman at the craft beer place recommended it. None of it makes sense.

It kind of makes sense. Rick. In Dickensian "Christmas Carol" sort of way....

I almost don't know what to tell you about this one... it's like chugging a grape soda, and it's so sessionable that you literally can chug it - uncharacteristically low ABV for a stout. Check out this purple foam:

I could see some beer aficionados not caring for this because it might be too sweet; almost childlike - but I'm really hooked on New Glarus. All of their beers have an individual character, and Dan Carey will not cut corners when it comes to brewing or capturing any beer styles' signature quality.

Wow. Big step up from the Xmas Pickle Sour. Along the lines of Founder’s CBS. I can find no fault and it comes in a 19.2 oz can!

I could immediately smell the maple when I popped the top on the can, but it faded quickly to the background and leaves an amazing bourbon barrel aged imperial Stout. Any fear of sickly Maple sweetness subsided with the first sip.
