Arko bargain

Just bought 12 sticks of arko from amazon for 1 ukp each. 900g must be bargain of the decade. Only possible objection to arko could be the scent, but this almost vanishes if you unwrap a stick and leave it for a few days.
I find the best lather byfar is putting a slither in bottom of a bowl and lathering like that. .

My objection to Arko is the synthetic surfactant, Disodium Distyrylbiphenyl Disulfonate. It's a known irritant and my skin can't handle it.

It's a crying shame. If it wasn't that I have no doubt that Arko would be my staple soap. I can't use Cella or Tabac either due to the fragrances, but Arko is the one I miss the most! I even like the scent - it reminds me of Turkish baths.

I have issues as well with certain products. Shaving related, I bought a Burt's Bees aftershave lotion. I applied it to the back of my neck post shave and it turned my neck beet red and burned bad. I had to toss it. I didn't isolate the chemical that caused it unfortunately. I know I can't use antiperspirant because of the aluminum.

I don’t mind the scent but some kind of chemical in Arko irritated my skin over time. Cella Red wasn’t as irritating but still left me with a ‘tingle’ at times.

You are like me. The Arko chemical is the one I mentioned above. The Cella chemical is Benzaldehyde, which gives it the cherry/almond scent. Both soaps are obviously great performers from my limited experiences of them, but my pale, allergy-prone skin says "no". :c17:

I have the same problem with Cella and Tabac but fortunately ARKO is no problem.

Yep, me too. Only 2 soaps I had a reaction to.

Arko became a shower soap. Cella I can use as long as it’s not 2 days in a row.

🤷‍♂️

@Goblin Maybe take a look at Jikoryen which is similar to Arko. The ingredients list on my stick is hard to read, but I don't think I see your foe listed. The stick actually has an e-mail listed on it. [email protected]

Thanks for the heads up. I will try and find some. If there is still a decent tallow shave stick out there I can actually use then happy days are here again!

There is an anti-Arko! movement? What shenanigans is this?

Not anti-Arko! Think of us as exiles, crying in the Arko! wilderness.

I'm fairly new to arko and wondered if it had changed much over the years.

As for ingredients, the details on the stick is almost impossible to read, even with magnification.

I use the Arko soap puck in my Old Spice shaving mug. The soap is very easy to make a thick cushiony lather with an Omega boar brush. It’s my “go to” shave soap. I get little to no irritation with the stuff. The scent weakens down after a couple of uses. And I don’t mind the scent. Like someone earlier said, it smells similar to lemon or even Ivory bath soap. Can’t believe I wasn’t using this stuff earlier. Can’t believe an inexpensive soap could work so great.

I love Arko and more now that a have a3D printed tube.
