AOS unscented vs. other AOS scents

Used an unscented sample I got from their store and really liked the cream. Not so much the scent (didn't hate it, didn't love it), but the lather was so awesome. I think it was the first time I got no burn at all when using my Kiehl's blue astringent.

Now...I love their sandalwood scent, my question is does anyone know how the lather/performance stacks up to the unscented? Maybe the unscented was part of my "no burn" experience...not sure what to do.

I have the Sandalwood soap and I love it's performance more than I liked the Unscented cream if that helps any. I unfortunately have not tried Sandalwood cream or Unscented soap to compare though but I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I've not have as much luck with the AOS sandalwood lather vs. C.O. Bigelow. Have tried a AOS sandalwood with Mama bear's vanilla/sandalwood for a good lather.

Performance should be substantially the same across the different scents. The only difference is the EO scent used, AFAIK. If you find one of the scented creams doesn't work for you, you can always try to sell or trade your tub on the BST. Either that or offer to buy samples in the WTB in the BST and see if a member who has the creams can sell you some samples of them.

The lather that the AOS cream creates is substantially similar to that of the English creams like Trumpers and Taylors, FWIW. Body Shop cream also makes similar lather.

I suspect your "no burn" experience was probably due the excellent lather these creams can produce. These are the most efficacious creams I've ever used, the parfum's are natural so I'd be surprised if you had a reaction, it's not impossible but the chances much reduced.

I love the AoS Sandalwood cream.

I had a trial of the unscented cream. Lathered up wonderfully. Unfortunately, I've never tried the scented creams. I do however use the AoS Sandalwood soap, and the scent/lather is great.

Cheers!

One can have skin reactions to either EOs or artificial fragrances. I've had reactions to both and so have many others on this board. Just because something is EO scented doesn't mean you have less of a chance of reacting to it...that's pure marketing hype.

You may very well have reactions to both synthetic and natural parfum but in this particular case I am happy to hype the use of a natural sandalwood essential oil in a product because of the "natural properties" that sandalwood EO has.

I love my AOS Sandalwood cream. It lathers up super easy, with very little water. It's the 2nd cream I ever used after Proraso, and I couldn't believe it. I shake out my brush, squeeze it out, and it still lathers up great without adding any more water. Every once in a while I might add a drop or two if it looks dry, but mostly whatever is left on the brush takes care of it and if it is a tad dry whatever water the brush picks up from my face takes care of it.

I find that in stark contrast to the T&H samples I just started using. I feel like I'm using tons of water and it's still drying out. I'm just hoping that it's that particular cream and the other ones will be better.

I also love the AOS Sandalwood balm. Two squirts covers my whole shaving area without leaving it feeling greasy, but still moisturized. I know the thing is expensive but I've used it every day for about 4 months now and the bottle has gone down maybe a 1/16th of an inch.

I love the lavender. I used the sandalwood this morning and my face felt like it was on fire for half the day:mad5:. Same thing last time I used a sandalwood cream, from Crabtree and Evelyn I believe it was. Needless to say, I am never using a sandalwood product again. This is not normal though, something in sandalwood obviously just does not like my skin.
