I was thinking about getting a Merkur 45 Bakelite razor, but was apprehensive about getting one because the handle doesn't have a brass threaded insert. I thought if the razor handle was snugged down a bit too much, the top of the handle might get a hairline crack running down the side. Has anybody had any issues with the handles on the razors or is this a non issue?
Anybody having problems with Merkur 45 Bakelite handles cracking?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I've had mine about 2 years now and I haven't had any problem. I only use it 3-4 times a month though.
