What's new

Anybody else style their hair in an "emo" fashion... or is it just me?

I suppose you could say that I'm one of the few people who like the outgoing look of "emo" hairstyles.

I find it funny how something as simple as a hair style can automatically stereotype a person into a category. Last time I checked, the way you styled your hair had nothing to do with depression, but I could be wrong :001_huh:

Anywho, if there's anyone else out there that like to do crazy things with their hair, what kind of product do you use? Personally I've found that VO5 extreme 24hr hold hair putty works the best. I can't bring myself to pay almost $20 for a 2oz tub of of BedHead Manipulator , but that's just me.

What's your opinion?

Just in case anyone was curious as to what I was referring to.

not me - though I had a ponytail and massive inch long sideburns for a while so what do I know about hairstyles

I totally agree, like wetshaving, it's not for everyone  but maybe, just maybe, there's someone on this site who's like me? haha

Also my hair is very thick and wavy almost afro like, so even if I wanted to go "emo" I couldnt. I personally prefer 40's and 50's hairstyles, like the pompadour, business man, slicked back, or the DA.

Don't worry, everyone is embarrassed by pictures of themselves in their 20's, you won't be the only one :)

I know where i live you automaticly get stereotyped in your hairstyle.

Where there is a base here, you either get grouped into the military haircut group, or the unemployed group. All by your haircut. That and the mountain folk lol

I have to say its just you. I wonder if its that Im to old to sport something like that, but it never really appealed to me.

EEEEEEEEMOOOOOO!!!!:biggrin::biggrin: i have long hair and briefly sported a slight side parting, that was the only part of my hair that vaguely resembled an emo cut and that chant quickly got very irritating and i went back to a center parting, that way i ony get slightly quieter but more resentfull Goth comments, although i do have dark eyes, a nose ring and 3 lip piercings so i guess thats down to me

Right now I'm closer to Ian McKaye circa "Waiting Room" emo....

I tried similar stuff but never found anyone around here smart enough to cut it like I wanted it. I'd show them photos and walk out of there looking nothing like what I wanted. So...I gave up.

Despite the uneven haircut you do proudly possess, you do appear to be sporting quite the BBS. Are you shaving yet?

I told my GF when at the mall this weekend that the hairdo sported by a group of teenagers was called a "Reverse Mullett." Learn something new everyday here! Now I know the proper term is EMO hairdo.

Haha, we'll see about that :001_rolle I'm not worried about it though as fashion changes so do I

Hm, that's true, not everyone can cut it that's for sure. Luckily I have one of the best stylists in the nation close by :w00t:

Sure do! I have been for 2 years and my "beard" is coming along quite nicely if I do say so myself. (coveragewise) My uncle (SmoovD) got my started in wetshaving so it's all I've ever done and I must say that I'm quite happy with it

I think you guys missed the question haha. What do you use to make your hair stick up? Gel, pomade, just plain hairspray, putty, or does it just stand up on its own
