What's new

Any one have a Para .45?

I'm not 100% sure if this is the righ spot for this or not but I wont get any bites if I dont cast a line.

Anyhow, I have an opportunity to purchase a new Para Ord "SF 45a."

I cant find a lot in the way of reviews, however. The price seems right at right around 785. This includes Tritium on top, 2 extra magazines (for a total of 5) and a few other goodies. Some match items and what not that actually seem standard for this company.

I THINK that it's the same as their 14-45, but I cant be sure.

It comes in desert brown with my Task Force name on the side of the slide. I'm not 100% in love with that, honestly, but I think I can work with it.

Para claims that the same package is around 1400 normally.

While I was in the market for a .45, I'd never considered Para. This COULD be a wonderful deal.

Does anyone have some input?

Thanks, ahead of time.

I just checked on gunbroker. The Most expensive Para 45 is selling for $995.
I don't know anything about Para's since I don't own one.

Send me all the details and I will post it over one the gun forum that I belong to and should get plenty of answers which I will forward you.

Sweet.
I'm waiting for a reply from the sales guy. Once I have it, I'll put it here or PM you, depending on if I can find this thread again or not.

Thanks!!

I have shot my friend's Para .45 and fell in love with it. Not only is it a 1911 style but it is also double action and high capacity. When I do buy another pistol, it will for sure be a Para Ordinance. In fact I am looking at the Para Warthog as my next pistol purchase.

I retired my old AMT hardballer and replaced it with a Para Ord. This was about 10 years ago. The trigger took a little getting used to but was no big deal. Outside of some damage done by a catastophic failure (Blew the mag and cracked one side of the grip, no integral damage) I've had no problems with it. That of course was an ammo problem and I was able to shoot the gun just a few minutes after clearing it.
I find that the Para Ord platform lends well to both left and right hand shooting, and is comfortable as well. I would not hesitate to buy another and their customer service is pretty good too.

The only problem I have with high capacity pistols is the double stack magazines. The grip frame is too wide for me to get a proper hold on. I have a Sig 226 that I try to love every time I go to the range, but it just doesn't fit in my hand quite like my Clark Custom 1911. The Para-Ordnance is a nice weapon (A friend let me shoot his) if you can get a proper grip on it
