Any suggestions on a razor made out of an alternative material to traditional metal that will not trip scanners at airports? Bakelite or composite or something? I need a razor with the efficiency of an R41, a Lupo .95 OC, or similar. I travel a lot. Thanks.

Personally I would just take a Bic Metal and don't worry about TSA at all. It is efficient and lasts easily for 10 shaves.

BIC Metal or Gillette Guard (inexpensive Indian cartridge razor) are easier to carry on without hassles. The Bakelite or ABS razors usually have a metal screw joint where the handle attaches.
If you travel with a DE razor and blades they have to be in your checked luggage. So it doesn't matter what materiel they are. In your carryon you're better off with carts etc.
I am pleasantly surprised with the shaves from a Bic Metal. I would take one if I only had my carry on bag.
Gents, as ignorant as we may believe the TSA to be in prohibiting DE razors with no blade - thems the current rules. Let's not try to skirt them with discussing means to do so here.
