Alright you Proraso freaks! Part II

Call me newbie, rookie, moron, whatever, I can take it. If you noticed I referred to my "tub of prorasso" in my earlier post. This was not a misprint for tube, the online store I purchased this from said it was the same cream as in the tube but in an easier to use jar. After a miserable shave with this stuff I thought you guys were nuts. The razor head stuck to my skin, not slick at all. I figured something was wrong, where's the menthol burn it's supposed to be famous for and why does the razor not effortlessly glide across my face? In a moment of pure self control, right before I was about to post how wrong you "proraso freaks" are, I double checked the lid. Shave soap. I knew about this product and that it's not as well loved as the original so I avoided it, I thought. Needless to say, I'm not happy about this, there will be a reckoning! In conclusion, my verdict is still in limbo untill I get the real stuff, I'll let you know.:mad3:

In the meantime, work with the Proraso soap. It's an excellent product and IMO, the equal of the shave cream.

You might have a reaction to menthol. Omega has a product that's not that mentholed compared to Proraso.

Otherwise, Proraso white might be easier on you...

For me, it works as well as the tube. Give it a chance. You just have to work it a little different than the cream.

Not really...the soap is well regarded in these parts. It does have a steeper learning curve than the Proraso cream, though, so I'm not surprised you had less than impressive results starting out with it. Give it a bit more time and experimentation, and you should be zinging along with it in no time. If you really want some fun, pick up the green Proraso cream tube. Prime the brush with the soap in the tub, then make a superlather with the cream in the tube. You'll see why they call it "super" lather.

This gentleman is right. I use the Omega and while it is mentholated its not overwhelming. As for the soap not being well regarded I can't begin to imagine about what you are talking. I see nothing but love in the threads for all things Proraso. Even their worst products gets glowing reviews. And as for the soap being difficult, again, I don't get it. I haven't used the Pro but if it is anything like my Omega, I don't see how you could screw it...wait, did you pull a chunk of soap out of the tub and lather in a bowl? That could be rather difficult actually. Well I'm off to shave. Enjoy the day.

I've made enough lather with several soaps to have an opinion about it , and I thought the green tub was terrible, the scent was ok, but the razor felt like tack cloth on my face. YMMV,But I've got a tub of soap that feels like a areasol shave cream.
