What's new

Already lost 4 hairs from the new B&B Essential boar brush

Has anyone else encountered this? I only did one test lather so far since opening it and it is brand new... And already shedding. When would you guys call it a dud and contact WCS asking for a replacement? 10 hairs? 20 hairs? Now?

Thanks, gents, for your advice!
Mike

It's normal for a brush to shed several hairs for the first uses. It's only a problem if it keeps happening daily for a few weeks.

The hairs in a boar brush are more fragile than badger, especially when dry. Be sure to thoroughly wet the boar, and maybe even let it soak a few minutes.

How long are the shedded hair?

I first freaked out thinking that it was an issue when I got a few of my brushes new, but it is just what happens. it'll stop soon enough

Most brushes shed some hairs when new. I would not worry about it. Make sure you are soaking a boar brush before using it.

Thank you all for the advice. I actually used the brush this morning with a shave and no hairs fell out. The ones that fell out during the first lather were very small...so maybe they naturally were just kind of stuck in the knot and not really firmly in place. I will keep an eye on this but let WCS know if this persists - which I pray it doesn't.

Pretend like each hair that falls out is a $5 bill to put in your pocket. Because it actually works out about right, when comparing the price of a good board to a good badger.

My B&B boar lost 3-4 hairs the first use and maybe a few hairs ever since. It was the opposite of a shedder.
