Acquired an obscure brush. Can you help me ID it?

My grandmother recently bought me a handmade shaving mug and some soap in the Amish country and the mug came with a brush. I've been using a Body Shop brand synthetic brush, but will start using the new one as well. However, I can't tell if it's badger, boar, or something else. It definitely has a scent about it, but it isn't over powering. Feels soft, but not sturdy like I've felt badger brushes at Art of Shaving.

I thought it might be horse hair, but I'm clueless.

Out of curiosity, why would that make sense?
