6 BBS shaves with a Walmart Wilkinson!

I won't lie to any of y'all, this sixth shave took a bit more work to coax a BBS shave from that blade in combination with the red tip. The end result though was a perfect shave with no irritation, no nicks or burn. My feathers only get me 2 acceptable shaves and the same with my dorcos.... 6 BBS shaves is more than any one can expect from a single blade. Do I even bother with a seventh? It's hard to say no because at this point it's kind of a game of just how many great shaves can this Wilkinson Sword blade give. The shaves are starting to take some finessing and more passes but if the end result is BBS, does it matter? What do you guys think that I should do?:glare:

I think that if you're enjoying the shave and the end result, it doesn't really matter how much work it takes! It sounds like you're getting a lot of quality shaves out of each of these blades. If you like the shave and the result, it doesn't really matter if it's different than other blades. You can't argue with results!

Reading this on my iPhone and in the tiny little fonts it at first looked like 6885 shaves ...was about to go buy one blade to get me through the Shavapocalypse!

I just received my progress back from Eric, who turned it into a mergress. I will have my first shave tomorrow with this razor and one of the Wally World Wilkinson Sword blades. I have used this in a SS (40's), EJ89, and it is my current go to blade.

Every time I go to Walmart I empty the peghook! One thing is for certain every time a store carries something that I really like....they always discontinue carrying it, especially Walmart. Their new slogan should be "Low prices, Always! But we'll discontinue your favorite, Always".:001_rolle

Every time I try to pick these up they are always out. Are they that good or does Walmart suck at stocking these?

I got 7 good ones and #8 started to get iffy. I found the first shave was a little rough, but acceptable. After finishing the Wal Mart blade, I then used a black labelled German Wilk from a couple of years ago to compare. My techniques have improved, but I still found the Wilk from a couple of years ago was:

  • a little rougher on the first shave
  • a little shorter lasting
  • much more prone to nicks
compared to the new Walmart ones.....

Wonder if the current production for the rest of the world has changed....Saw Wilks in yellow packaging in Germany this summer, but did not buy any....

They are pretty good and Walmart does suck at stocking them. I pick up a pack when I go there and when the blades are in. Around here there must be a bunch of closet DE shavers cuz that spot is usually empty.

I get a weeks worth of shaves with these blades too. I am glad that they changed from the Personna's I could only get 2 or 3 shaves with those.

I hope you don't go to the Walmart on Hanley Rd. in Maplewood...that's where I've been getting my blades. I'd hate to go there and find that the blades have been completely cleaned out!

I usually go to the Fenton or Arnold ones but since I'm a self employed window installer and I work all over the bystate area you never know which Wally World that I'm gonna stop by. If I go to that one again I'll at least leave a couple on the peghook for you, let's call B&B common courtesy.

BTW, my experience with the Wally World Wilks has been just the same as you guys...a week's worth of great shaves!

There's so much talk of these Walmart Wilkinson's lately, I'm very curious....

Can someone post a picture of the blades and/or packaging so I know what to look for....not in Walmart, but elsewhere? TIA
