🌕🌗 365 shaves in 2022🌓🌕

Wishing you all a great year in which the ability to shave each day will be just a glimpse of the blessings of health in body and mind.
If you're concerned about being too blurry eyed to shave on New Years day, remember it's already Jan 1 somewhere! Go ahead and get that first ritual in!

Shave #1 for a new year. First time use of a RazoRock soap that I over hydrated. Glad I don't have long to wait to try again.

DE SOTD, Jan 1st 2022- the start of the New Year, I'm going to try and stay optimistic this year more if possible.

Razor: American Gillette super speed Rocket X1- Mfg 1952 1st qtr, very nice mild razor, I like using the Kai SS blade in this razor because it slightly wider and gives a little blade feel and works well. Well built and brings back memories of a different simpler time.
Blade: Kai SS(9) excellent blade, sharp and smooth with excellent longevity, 9/1000 thousands inch wider than a standard Astra SP. Great for my mild razors IMO.
Soap: Razorock Irish country side- different mild freshness scent + excellent lather qualities.
Brush: Yaqi 24mm high mountain silver tip, excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice scrub, great painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Pinaud Clubman with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion + scentless.
Results: 9/10 or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = :a17:Excellent shave with my Gillette SS Rocket with a Kai blade.

1 of 1
first shave was a shave off
Henson mild on left
Wolfman 0.95 on the right Wolfman won :)
Astra Platinum blade
Fine Platinum soap
Fine Platinum AS
hmmmmm can I count that as two and be one ahead :) hahahahahaha

Saturday 1st January, shave #1.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Cubebe
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.68 SB, Astra SP #1
Post-shave: Nivea Balm, Hyaluronic Acid.

My first shave of the year was a test-drive of SV Cubebe. Performance seems to be as good as Opuntia (both Beta 4.3), although I made the lather slightly too thin this time. Scent is pleasant without being very intense.

Got a comfortable DFS with a fresh Astra.

I think like MWF this will thrive on regular use, to stop it from drying out.

Razor: Rockwell 6S, #4 plate
Blade: Astra Superior Stainless (1)
Brush: Zenith aluminum boar, 27mm
Soap: Pre de Provence No. 63
Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Aftershave: Pre de Provence No. 63
Growth: 48 hours
Passes: WTG, ATG, cleanup
Rating: 10/10

I grew up on baseball diamonds. One thing most of us did was to follow superstitious routines when on a winning or hitting streak. Routines like not stepping on the foul line when leaving the field. Or taking exactly 10 practice swings before stepping in the box.

Today, I decided to pick a new shave lineup. Went all PdP 63 with a new Astra blade and my faithful Rockwell 6S. Got an absolutely magnificent shave. Gonna keep the same lineup tomorrow to see if I can get another 10/10. While I’m at it, I plan again to not step on the transition strip between the bedroom and bathroom. You never know.
