Tonight I had another carbon copy 3017 shave, it's working out quite well. The soap is easy to lather, provides good slickness and despite not being a big fan of the scent I will be sorry to see this one go. I was left with a slight rough patch on one side of my neck, I put it down to user error.

I wondered if the cut-away corners of the head were a significant design improvement over the Game Changer — what do people think?

I don't have a Game Changer, but the cut away corners do seem to make the razor head able to get into some of those harder to reach places although it also helps that the head is quite small and manoeuvrable

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat (Tallow)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #4
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I had plenty of time, so I tried deliberately applying my (bowl) lather in the opposite direction that I was going to shave. I was happy enough with the result, a comfortable near-BBS.

If you wipe with a washcloth after the previous pass, it ought to work the same — try to leave the stubble "rubbed the wrong way" to enhance the cut. I wonder how many wheels I am reinventing here.

That's what I thought.

On the other hand, the Leaf Twig beats all my DEs there, and you are allowed to use more than one razor...

Tried Gillette Gel, to see how it shaped up after a long time with real soap. For a non-brush product, it bowl-lathers surprisingly well.

It's acceptably slick, and I got a good enough near-BBS out of it. Most of the marks off are for the smell of the propellant.
