I chose the 1933 Derby just because of the name (and I seem to be one of the few who likes Derby blades, especially the premiums), but it's a pretty good looking car...
How about sharing the pic of the 1917? I've never raced, but my dad was a school teacher and my parents had 7 kids. That meant he had to work a second job as a mechanic, so I learned to love cars from an early age when he'd let me go to work with him at the garage on weekends or during the summer.Hi,
Big old Bentley. I recall one from my VSCCA and SVRA days. What a beast. I had a 29 Essex Boattail. Or, my Uncle did and let me run it at Lime Rock. I have to wait for my number, 83, to come up.
Anyone else here actually race? Not necessarily old iron, but anything?
My family was into racing. Great Uncle Louis ran the first four Indy 500s. Best finish was 8th. Drove for Case. Yes, the tractor company also made early cars. Then the War came. After the war he made his own cars. I could drive one of those, but I don't think he made them into the 20s. Only pic I have is of a 1917.
Dad raced 48-64. Two uncles raced as well. I raced 83-05. Only Old Iron that fits this was that Essex.
