Very nice! It looks like a crossbreed between a Böker and a Thiers Issard and that's a good thing in my book.
I like the lines of this razor. Ever consider letting the razor's experience and maturity show through? There's no rule that says the blade needs to regain it's brand new shine. JMTCWTorrey 5/8” Our 136 square point shoulderless - it wins the award for cheapest razor bought to date!
So the last time I got a vintage straight with blade etching and noticeable staining/oxidation, I managed to almost completely erase the etching in the process of eliminating the oxidation. Any suggestions on how to avoid that this time around?

Did I just waste my money? I've been looking at these for a while now. In a weak moment I bought it. Only $15 so not a huge lose if I make a mess of it trying to hone it.

Made in China, so I'm guessing it will be something like a Gold Dollar. If you can hone it will shave ok. The craftsmanship isn't anything special, I'm guessing the scales are cheap flimsy plastic.
Yes plastic scales, no marking at all.
Going to give honing it a try. I've got a couple stones and an old razor hone that my wife found in an antique store. Along with a Whipped Dog poor man's strop.
See how you go, don't expect too much. Worst case is you blew $15, big deal.

It is unused. It just needs some cleanup on scales, honing and she is ready to go!!

I am very excited. A few days ago I received the received the Koraat razor I ordered.
It is a 7/8, with a quarter hollow grind.
I have a Aust full hollow. While this is a very nice razor, I believe the quarter hollow will be better for my coarse beard.
