This was, obviously, a joke.

The razor was taking a five minute bath in a flute of white wine vinegar to loosen the rust, while I used 'physics' and the magic of refraction to make it look bigger. Because it is actually... normal size!!!

I’d been idly looking for a second GB Shakespeare to put some ivory scales on, to be a pair with the one I have already. And the almost mint coffin made it an absolute no-brainer at 20 quid.

Tomorrow I give it a new edge (still has original), and then I will give it a whirl later in the afternoon or Monday! I am pretty pumped…and it’s a near wedge.

Thanks! I am excited to hone and use today. It feels like it sits pretty flat on the stone even with the subtle smile, since the spine is curved…so it will be a nice experience.

Speaking of this…those three Frederick Reynolds that a genius ground back in the day…they also have a slight smile, but sit perfectly flat on the stone…no rolling x stroke!

Smiling razors do seem to have a small advantage because of the blade profile. However, they can be quite unforgiving if a slizing stroke is used. Don't ask me how I know

Yes…it’s a sterile Sprecher, because there is the Abalone inlay in the tang, so no markings anywhere on the razor.

I bought it second hand (only used a couple times…still had the edge from Max…never honed by the previous owner) and it is absolutely the best razor I have ever used.
