So in the spirit of NovemBayRum, I ordered some Ogallala Bay Rum Shaving Soap. I set to making some lather and after trying for several minutes and adding water a couple of times during the process, I was still left with what looked like a weak lather with large bubbles. Frustrated and short I time I decided to just use it. I was shocked to have my DE glide effortlessly over my face and after 2 passes had a DFS. Is it me or does this soap just not produce think lather.

Ogallala does produce a good lather. Try working on it for a bit longer. I seem to remember the soap starting out thin and foamy, but exploding into nice lather after a few minutes. What other soaps have you had success with?

I have tried Tabac, Speick, Arko and Volabra and had good results with them... I think they are all Tallow based?
