Wood handle finish

Hello,
I bought an olive wood handle on ebay, it didn't include a knot. It looks like the outside is finished, but the inside is not. Should I treat the inside, if so with what, before putting a knot in?

You can treat it with Minwax® Polycrylic® along with the outside or a good clear marine grade sealer like Seal-Once™ Marine Waterproofer.

You could also coat the inside of the knot hole with a very thin coat of CA glue. It may also be beneficial to tape the top of the brush on the outside of the knot hole so you don't damage the finish on the outside of the handle. Would love to see pictures of the handle.

Thanks for the info! I believe I have some polycrylic kicking around the house..
