Wolfman order time maybe? Help and suggestions please.

\
So I got my number, or spot on the Wolfman list pulled today, received the email from the good people in Canada, now its ordered time.

Was ding a WR-2 in 0.95 GAP, ws going to do Bronze but the price increase is scary high. Should I just do Price Point Stainless.

Still on the fence on HANDLE the WRH2 or WRH7.

Honestly I know this is not the LAST Wolfman price increase, so maybe I should just spend the money.

Also these Razor do not go on secondary market often, when they do the move fast.

Still on the fence?

INPUT APPRIECIATED.

The recent Wolfman price increase disturbs the "value" of the different metals we will order for our razors. That was one of the main reason I selected titanium instead of bronze for my recent WR4 order. With titanium I could get the stainless steel WRA1 stand and my total cost for titanium head, handle and stand is lower than full bronze head, handle and stand.

I don't have a WR2 .95, so I won't comment on it.

As for your handles, you can also pick a solid titanium handle, which is the same price as that for hollow stainless steel, to pair with your stainless head. My first Wolfman was a stainless steel WR2 1.25SB paired with a hollow WRH7. Now that WRH7 is paired with my titanium WR2 1.05 DC.

Slickness is a sickness
I'm asking myself the same questions as @DesertIguana.

I hesitantly got on their waiting list about six weeks ago, and sold over $300 of my stuff with an eye on a basic polish WR2, .95 gap, with a solid handle...

...and the approximately $360US price tag still made me squirm a bit.

With the price increase, I think I'm out.

I can't imagine that a Wolfman (or any other high-dollar razor) shaves any better than my $65 Razorock, or even one of my $10 Gillette Techs.

Short version:

I likely would have purchased a Wolfman at the old pricing, mainly out of sheer curiosity, and knowing I could sell it for what I paid...now, I'm far less interested.

Thank you James, for bringing me to my senses. 🙂👍

Well I am still on the fence so to speak, but honestly the price increase is a bit of a big turn off. Wolfman's were always near the top of the price point for a Razor, now their more pricy.

If you’re financially able to, I always say go with the combo that your heart really likes. I don’t have a Wolfman (yet) but I am also partial to the bronze.

Bronze was my plan, rethink at 487.50 USD for a Razor is still a hard trigger pull. Have a buddy who has one of the Ricj=hard Mullie Bubba Watson Watches, saw him yesterday, just got back from NYC. Guy was wearing the "WATCH".

Too me I can tell time off my old Phone, not sure if I was 500MIL in Lottery I would by a Bubba Watch.

That just isn’t true. The .95 is often for sale.

This just isn't true.

I placed a WTB in both thr BST and Contributor's forum six weeks ago and have heard nothing but crickets...zero offers.

I've also got alerts set up for both forums, and have not seen a WR2 with a 95 gap sell in the many months that I've been watching.

Doing a search of the BST, I found exactly ONE offered for sale, that sold on March 11, 2023...18 months ago.

So, if one razor every year and a half is "often", you are correct. 🙂

If a price of a new razor is too much for you, buying a used razor is always the best option and you can find plenty of Wolfman razors across the BST section. About the handle, you really don't need a Wolfman handle and you can just buy the head and then buy another less expensive handle and be happy with it.

I just don't see the difference or how it would justify a 5-10X the cost. My RR Mamba is polished, blemish free etc and shaves like a dream. Even if it isn't as polished or refined, it's working tool and if you actually use it for it's intended purpose, it will show age over the years.

And before anyone posts a fancy, high res, touched up photo of the polishing or groves on a Wolman, those photos exist of all razors if people put the time into the photo shoot.

That said, I've never shaved with one and have no desire as I was lucky to find my perfect razor for a fair price. I stopped searching long ago.

I don't know about the WR-2, but anybody who has an eye on the WR-1 could get a Lupo instead. It shaves exactly the same.

It's not as pretty, but the feel on the face and the end result are identical.

Discovered for myself the Gillette Techs late this Summer.
That changed my thoughts on all the razors I bought in 2023 from Merkur to Blackland.
Even reconsidering the idea of sending the Techs off for plating, as they work perfectly fine as is.

For what it is worth:

#1. Christmas is coming, so you are ‘entitled‘ to an early present!!
#2. I actually prefer SS, which is terrific. But if you prefer bronze, then that’s what you should get!
#3. I have the WRH2 handle and really enjoy it!!

Hope this helps!! :popc::popc:
