Williams shave soap club?

Here is the link. Please excuse the quality as it is the first video I have ever done. I got a postage stamp view of the ceiling. Not sure how that got in there.

Good afternoon gents, I have been experimenting with the Williams Mug soap for the longest time now and have just struggled like crazy to get a consistent lather that I found to be pleasant but today, I nailed it. I mixed up two lathers today, one was made from a mixture of C.O. Bigelow and Williams which I shaved with, the second was for practice while I had everything out and it was strictly Williams (I need to do a video so I can get some constructive criticism). Anyways, here is the result of my Williams soap lather (I think the trick for me was hydration and temp)...

Looking good. Williams is an excellent stand alone soap. You are correct! Hydration is the key

Thank you, Sir. It also took a lot of medium pressure. I think my DIY Scuttle apparatus helped with the temperature. I can't beat this shaving soap because it sells locally (brick and mortar) for $0.99! Take care!

Once you get the knack of how to lather it (I use a slight variation of Marcos' Method), you get a rich, moist, slick, tallow-filled lather. Yep, I could use it every day and be quite happy.

Good stuff, Maynard!

I am fairly new to the site, you mentioned Marco's method..can I find that in tutorials?

Thanks for the nice, helpful video. Nice, creamy, tallow-rich stuff, isn't it?

Thanks again,

Kenny

Kenny, that worked, thank you! That is a great resource.

Glad you got it! Follow his instructions exactly, and you should be just fine. When I first tried it, I almost gave up after twirling the brush for a full minute, but I hung in there, and was pleasantly surprised with the results. Great lather, smooth shave, for mere pennies! Amazing :001_smile

Have fun with it, and let us know how it works for you.

Take care,

Kenny

WOW! I just watched the video and I noticed that you started out with a large amount of moisture! Even when I compared it to my picture of Williams, mine still looked dry. Awesome video!

Will do, Sir. I will more than likely either make a video like Roderick or post up some more "lather porn."

I decided to try out my boar brush on the Williams...I found it easier to make the lather but hydrating properly with the bush was more difficult. Check it out:

Thank you, sir. This has been a difficult soap for me but I'm getting the hang of it. I found that instinctively I didn't want to add more water but when I did, the quality improved so much!

Im A Big Fan Of Williams Its Such A Good Soap And I Have No Problem Lathering It I Soak It With My Badger Brush For 5 Mins And It Produces A Perfect Lather Williams Will Always Be In My Rotation
