Williams Mug Questionairre

I had heard so many bad things about Williams shave soap that I put off spending the $1.34 to try it for years.

I finally tried it and thought it was pretty awesome.

People say it's drying, but I have oily skin. People say it's hard to lather, but I have very soft water. People say it causes tightening, but it saves me from using witch-hazel or alum for the same effect.

It got me curious... Under what conditions have you tried this soap.

Williams Mug soap is (Great/Usable/Terrible)

My shaving water source is (Distilled/Soft/Moderate/Hard/Dead-Sea/Don't know)

My skin type is (Desert/Dry/Medium/Oily/Bacon)

My beard is (Coarse/Medium/Fine)

My skin is sensitive (Yes/No)

My razor is/was ...(_____)

My blade(s) is/was ...(______)

My brush is/was ...(_____)

This may not end the war. But maybe if we find a pattern, the next time a newbie jumps in and asks about it, we can just say "try it if you have ____ water and _____skin" instead of 10 pages of "I love it!" "It's Crap!""You don't know how to lather!"

I'd say usable by itself. Another member on here likes to turn it into chunks and mix it with melted VDH (select I think? The cheaper one). When combined, they seem to be FAR better together than when separate. And 2 pucks of soap for around $3.

It took me a while to crack the code but I get pretty good and stable lather from it. YMMV.

I have soft water and I get a good lather out of it but I cheat because I like to Uberlather so I add a cream to the bowl when I make my lather.
