Wild Turkey Forgiven

Interesting accident-:cursing:

There is such a thing as a happy accident. Not every mistake ends up being bad, and in the case of new Wild Turkey Forgiven, it actually ended up being awesome. The soon to be released liquor is a combination of bourbon and rye whiskey that came about because the folks at the distillery accidentally mixed the two together only to find out that the result was delicious. It gets its name because the mistake was obviously forgiven afterwards. It will be a limited edition, small batch product so you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled if you want to track some down.

That is now on my list to pick up. Hopefully my local stores will stock it at somepoint without a ridiculous price tag...

This was apparently created by Eddie not Jimmy. Eddie worked with his dad (Jimmy) to create Russell's Reserve which I find to be a great bourbon. I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Please let us know how you like it. I am a fan of both bourbon and rye so I am intriqued, to say the least.

I think it's great. A little sweetness at the start then you get nice rye flavors followed by a bourbon finish. Quick description but it's very unique.

This one I gotta try! I love wild turkey rye for my old fashioned cocktails. It brings me back to my wayward youth of drinking wild turkey 101 in the pool hall parking lot.

the now discontinued WT 101 Rye--agreed
the current WT 81 Rye--total fail (imho), a much better and cheaper rye to be had at that proof is Old Overholt, but I prefer my cocktails to use a higher proof rye (rittenhouse, redemption, 1776) so that it retains the flavor profile of the rye...
even for sipping, i like the higher proof...
just my humble opinion tho...
still dont know the exact reason WT made the change, there certainly was some bad buzz about it in the cocktail circles on the internet a few years ago, cant believe WT wasnt/isnt aware...

Wonder tho, with this "Forgiven" containing "a high proof rye", if they didnt have a master plan for 101 rye, or if this is what really happened to the 101 "by mistake"...either way bring back my $20 bottle of Rye at the "correct" proof...(rant over!)

I started on the high-proof whiskers because I was a young guy in search of efficiency. I kept drinking them because I found they were much better tasting and had a more complex flavor than their lower-proof counterparts.

When end did they discontinue the 101 rye?

My understanding is WT went to 81 for mixing and bar sales. Apparently they didn't like serving 101 to customers. Too much stupid out there. Personally I don't like the 81 stuff either.
