Usually, the only time that I've spotted SPAM posts, were at evening times, in Pacific Standard Time. They clearly do this, because they know thats when most people will be asleep, especially the mods. What they don't count on however, is I tend to be up late, and I will spot them.

And I report their SPAM posts so fast, it will make the bots megabytes of code split apart in shock. And then soon a mod will deliver the their post the smackdown. lol - When I have personally had problems on the site, Phil helped me to understand things. I am just grateful that we have a competent mod team, who keeps this ship sailing.

Great site and thanks for doing what you do!

Question - why is the lowest contributor amount $25 per year? Seems a little steep. Many other forums have much lower starting contributor costs. I think there would be a lot more contributors at $10 or $15 per year, but that's really only a guess on my part.

Thanks again!🙂

$2 per month ain't a bad deal, when you consider that you're hobnobbing with the finest Gentlemen in Wetshaving 😁

@Saloogie

Honestly, I do not recall what the discussion was at the time the pricing was implemented, or why that particular number was chosen, but I know personally that it hasn't changed in at least 10-15 years.
If the price was inflation linked, the cost today would be $37.00
I have no idea what other sites might charge and what you get in exchange, but I do know that we don't really take into account what other sites do or don't do. B&B has always marched to the beat of a different drummer in many ways.
We realize that in this economically tough time that folks at home are hurting in regards to finances, but the costs that the site deals with to stay online aren't getting cheaper either.
There are software licenses, software upgrades, IT staffing, server upgrades and replacements and server maintenance.
We are grateful to those who find it in their hearts to contribute to the continuation of the site, and hope that they find the value here worth the expense.
If you consider that the lowest contributor level is less than 7 cents a day, I'd say it's a pretty good value.
Though there are some extra benefits to being a contributor as just a way to say thanks in some small way - we are not a pay to play site, and use of the site is free to anyone who either puts up with the ads or is sharp enough to find efficient ad blocking software.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I contribute to other forums, non shaving, and they run $10 per year. I'm surprised to hear that this forum has been so much for so long. Expenses add up for multi forum users like myself. But if it's working for B&B, than I guess it's cool. I'm just wondering if they would get more contributors if they dropped the admission a bit. But I understand that the site has expenses and they've gone up as well so that's not likely.

I'll consider becoming a contributor. The site is very good and it's the one I chose out of many shaving forums I tried.

Thanks you!

No question, just wanted to say that I appreciate the way B&B handles things. I've been a member for several years, bobbing in and out of the hobby on the tail-end of things, and B&B just keeps on being a great destination site for all things shaving. Thanks to all for your efforts.

Some questions recently in Site Feedback made me think of throwing this open to the members where they could ask questions on why we run the site the way we do.
I can't guarantee that every question will be answered to your complete satisfaction, but I will do my best to explain any questions you have.
Let's try our best to keep it civil if you please.
PayPal in the BST? Some forum areas that posts don't add up?
Something else you've been wondering about?
Bear in mind that this is a part-time voluntary gig, and I will answer as I can, and flag the person asking the question so they know they have been answered.
Hello! I recently joined this forum and am very glad to have the opportunity to chat here. I would like to express my gratitude to the administration and all the participants of the forum for accepting me into your friendly family, despite the fact that I live in Russia.

@amateur

We're all family here, and we've found that if we keep to our foundation of avoiding political involvement, it's quite easy to keep things that way.
There have been a few fellows who thought that it was a silly position to take, and that the topic was something that should be discussed.
Our position has been that first and foremost, there are other sites that people can use to discuss such topics, and the ones we are aware of are toxic cesspools of discontent.
Moreover - nothing, and I mean NOTHING anyone could ever say here on the topic will ever convince someone else that their position is wrong, or have one iota of influence to change the situation that exists in any way, shape or form.
We have our hands full just keeping folks from strangling each other over straight razor honing methods, let alone elections or world events!

I wonder if it would be possible to have a history forum where posts like those from "Stan the Man", I found a dead badger, etc could all be in one place. Whenever I need a laugh, I look for them.

Having them in one spot could be of benefit to our newer members.

@htownmmm

We kind of have that in the Wiki:

There are some good ones missing though. I'd have no problem making a sticky in the clown house to make it easier to add later ones.
That will have to wait a week or so while I enjoy a few days vacation at Sturgis, SD!

Ok, I have a question. Aside from Springs and Stan the man, if you can without outing someone: What’s your favorite crazy post or thing that has happened that left you mods shaking your heads?
I have to think on that one!

The craziest thing that happened to me, was when I was a brand new newbie on B&B, a guy on here for some strange reason, went on an absolute vendetta against me. And wherever I went on this website, the guy followed, and created lots of problems for me. So much so, that I left B&B for several months over it! And to be perfectly honest, if it wasn't for @luvmysuper I would have still been gone. I was thankful to have his support through those tough times. Phil is a nice guy, anyone would be lucky to have him for a friend!

None of the Mods could function without the support of each other, and we all contribute equally, believe me.
We couldn't do it without the support of the vast majority of members who love the site and want to see it continue who contribute in time, energy, posts, reports of bad behavior, funds and the idea of what B&B is.
Unquestionably true. But you dear Phil are a unique, special person and I desire to take a moment to publicly thank you for all your time, efforts and help. Badger & Blade would not be the same without YOU, a True Gentleman.

But thank you for the kind words for the Team!
