I have an old Everready that I would like to restore and I'm looking at my options for replacement knots. There is a good bit of information out there on TGN, but I can't find anything about Whipped Dog's knots. Do any of you have experience with them?

I'll admit, the price is one of the things that has me interested. With their no questions guarantee, I may just have to try one out and post my findings.

I am curious about the silvertip badger brush from Whipped Dog. What grade of TGN hair would this compare to? TGN has so many different grades (silvertip, grade A, super badger, super silvertip, finest, etc). Which grade would be most comparable with the whipped dog silvertip knot?

Hey CZ...I'll weigh in just because I've got two 22mm SilverTips from whipped dog. They are super soft and will build and hold a nice lather. Unfortunately, I can only compare it to the Finest and the Black at TGN.
It is software than the finest, although with less backbone, but you can change that with the loft (I like the soft knots a little on the floppy side).
It is dramatically softer than the Black badger, which is extremely prickly, but stiff.
The whipped dog knot is a joy to face lather but no slouch in the bowl either.
Hope that helps. I know there are guys at B&B that have used some of the other knots from TGN, so hopefully they will chime in.
Larry's Whipped Dog knots are comparable to TGN and most other knots available across their range and knots types. The only different is in their Super Badger knots, TGN SB knots have treated tips which make them whiter and softer, The Whipped Dog SB is natural. Regardless of price, the Whipped Dog knots are excellent, especially if you like a stiffer knot. I've had no shedding issues and they break-in very well.
Thanks for the feedback. I have a finest knot from whipped dog and it is pretty soft. I am looking for a more "luxurious" knot and I was thinking about either the super badger or silvertip grade A from TGN. However, with shipping, these are almost twice the cost of the whipped dog knot. But are they twice the knot?
Of course, whipped dog currently only has 22mm silvertip knots and I need a 20mm. So unless they up their inventory, my decision may be made for me.

I think some more confusion has been added by the fact that I didn't see any "super" grade badger hair on the whipped dog website. There was only pure, finest, and silvertip. I actually purchased the last finest knot and now there is only pure and silvertip.
I will e-mail him to see if he has any other grades and when he might be restocking. All of the other threads seem to have high quality and praise in regards to the super and silvertip knots.

No confusion at all, he's currently out of Super Badger, he only lists what he has in inventory.

It's funny that this thread was bumped back up today. I just ordered a 22mm finest knot from TGN last night. I think I will go with a knot from whipped dog on my next restore.
I did e-mail Larry and his response (very quick by the way) was that he will be restocking soon, but has not actually placed an order. So it will be a few more weeks at least before there are more knots.
Also, he indicated that his demand is mainly for Silvertip grade knots, so that is what he will be stocking.
So far I only have one knot from whipped dog, which I really like, and I have a Finest extra stuffed knot coming from TGN as well. This way I can compare directly as well. However, I still want to know how the whipped dog silvertips compare to the TGN silvertips (specifically which grade from TGN is closest?). My next knot will definitely be a silvertip (or super badger) of some sort. Fortunately I have some time to make this very difficult decision.
