In praise of Rudy Vey

What is the name of the material for the ivory part? I like that better than some of the others I have seen.

It’s what Rudy calls patterned “real” faux ivory.

Last I checked, he had 24mm Semogue boar and Mistura knots.

For boar, I really like the SOC and classic American handle designs. Especially Ever-Ready C40 and 100.

Because I am very pleased with this 22mm Disco 50 Series in Shavemac 2-Band that arrived here today.

Rudy was fast to communicate, easy to work with, and quick to produce and ship the brush.

Well, the thread title does state that it's in praise of Rudy, so come one, come all! That's a really cool handle. The man is a true craftsman and artist.

Jim...... I neglected to mention.... This brush was the inspiration for the "real" faux ivory middle of my brush.... I asked Rudy for the ivory he used on your brush.... I didn't know the name of it.

So, thank you so much for the idea and inspiration.

I cracked open my Omega Boar and pulled out the knot for a restoration project. It turned out to be too big, so I asked Rudy to turn me a festive handle modeled after one of my Rubbersets.

I had planned to set it deeper, because of the glue, but ended up stacking a nickel and a quarter in there to get it to look right. This is about the max loft for the knot.

Here it is with the old Rubberset. It had to be scaled up because of the knot size.
