Travel brush upgrade

Good day, all.
I am trying to upgrade my travel shaving brush from badger bristles to a STF knot.

I use a Muhle Classic brush in my rotation and can place it into a large medicine bottle for travel, but I would like to downsize. I have considered purchasing a specific travel brush but would rather try a different solution.

I have a Caswell-Massey travel “Pure Badger” brush which I have had for about 20 years and still works well. Its plastic tube travel case is about 82mm inside in height and 29mm in diameter.

The handle is approximately 38mm in height with about a 42mm loft, and the knot is approximately 20mm (?) in diameter.

My thoughts are to replace the knot in this brush with a Muhle STF knot. I understand the process, but I do not know enough to feel comfortable attempting it myself.

Am I off on a tangent and should I consider other alternatives? I am still learning!

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

Two thoughts for consideration:
1. My ‘travel’ (and occasional at home) brush is Simpsons Wee Scot in best badger. It punches well above its size!!
2. A more elegant option would be Simpsons major
Either would do the trick IMO!! :thumbup1::thumbup1:

I had that tiny Omega, but decided I would rather carry something more reasonably sized.

I use a Muhle STF for travel and it works well. In your shoes I would not ruin a brush that works well in a process that I had no confidence in - I'd just buy another brush with the STF knot (which is exactly what I did, now that I think about it).

If you want a synth because you do, I guess that’s covered above.

18mm knot is my smallest happy size. My go to’s are an Omega 599 and a 40033. Sometimes I take both. I live in hot and humid, travel in hot and humid and never had an issue with drying them because the containers have good holes and the dopp can also breath. I’ve gone through a few others, and will lay them out with their containers below. I don’t like synths, so an 18-23mm in this case, in a short, ergonomically comfortable handle makes for a good traveler to me.
