I've talked myself into trying a SE razor. For DEs, I've ended up using a futur on 3, and a slim adjustable on 6, and these are the best 2 razors that I've tried so far. I can get decent shaves with vintage gillettes, but definitely get better shaves with a more aggressive razor. Which SE razors would be most likely to be a fit for me?

They're mostly pretty good and YM will most certainly V.
The GEM/Star/ER 1912 is usually a good starting point, as is the G-Bar or Clog-Pruf Micromatic.
See what's available on the bay - usually there are plenty of 1912s and Clog-Prufs.
If you want to dive in head first, get an Open Comb Micromatic for your aggressivity needs.
One main thing to look out for on ebay: The blade requires a raised stop on both sides of the razor to keep the blade in place. If you can't see them in the pics, dont buy it.

Agree with the Open Comb Micromatic. It can be very aggressive, or it can still cut with a very shallow angle.
I'd suggest either the 1912 model, or the Clog Pruf as a starting point. After either of those you may not need any others.

I'd say for the first one go with a 1912, a Clog-Pruf MM, or a G-Bar/Bullet tip MM/Featherweight (all essentially the same head design). I'd say the Open Comb Micromatic is around the equivalent of a Gillette adjustable set to 15, so watch out if you start with that one. The Clog-Pruf and 1912 are pretty middle-of-the-road, and the G-Bar type head design is relatively mild.
I can get great shaves with all of the the above, but the 1912 is at my sweet spot. It can be hard to get to DFS in my usual 2 passes with the G-Bar and later models for me. And I need to be extremely attentive if using the OCMM, but I'm usually rewarded by an extremely close shave.

Valet AutoStrop VC1. It can use a modified modern SE blade. A much smoother shave while maintaining the results of the Gem OCMM.

So how does it compare to the futur? It is definitely more aggressive than my adjustable, and gives me a better shave as well. I'm intrigued.
