I have never owned a Semogue so I am very biased to Omega. Every experience I've had so far with any Omega brush that I've had has been great so I find no need to branch out. Maybe one day I will pick up a Semogue.
I have 3 Semogue Brushes, (Italian Barber LE, 2012 SOC SE,& 620) and I love each of them. They all give me a great, effortless lather every time. The only Omega I have is the B&B Essential and it just does't come close. YMMV.
My prefered boar is the Vulfix 2189. I have boars from Omega, Semogue, Victoria, HJM, Il Ceppo, Vero, Vulfix and the Turkish #6.
After Vulfix I prefer Omega over Semogue; the Semogues are a tad better constructed but within the same knot/loft dimensions the Omegas feel and lather better for me, but not by much. My only gripe with Omega is that most of them come with a very cheap plastic handle (even the Vulfix boars with a molded handle (not so on the 2189!!) have a certain quality feel to them but not so with most Omegas) and the cups in which the knots are set are made from a plastic that is hardly up for the task so they might crack in due time.
I can't compare them (yet) since the only boar brush I have is an Omega. However, I have just ordered a Semogue Owners Club, so soon enough I'll be able to vote. Of course, even then, I'll only be choosing between the two boars that I will have. I am quite pleased with the Omega which I have.
Semogue. Not even close. I have tried two Semogues and two Omegas. Between the Semogue and Omega that were the same price-point (Omega 10048/Pro, Semogue 1305), the Semogue wins without trying. Higher quality handle. Higher quality hair. And of course I am disqualifying my SOC from contention, as it is significantly more expensive than the Omegas I've used, and it seems unfair to compare when the quality of the SOC is clearly so much higher. Does Omega make a brush that they would purport competes with the SOC? Does anyone?
I´m from Portugal. After that said Semogue makes in my IMHO beter low end boar brushes, has the SOC which cant be compared to any Omega and last I feel thei are better made
All I have is an Omega 49 which I received in a pif. I think it performs well above its price point; but I can't vote. I plan to own an SOC boar one day.
