Just received my Omega Jade Boar 011842 from England. Haven't used it but two members here swore by this brush. I own 52 synthetic brushes and 52 natural hair brushes with this being my 16th boar brush. It has a funky smell which I actually like. I have one pre treated boar brush and it is just ok.

It's a great brush.

Agree with @gpjoe - I find it to be a very good brush which makes a regular rotation for me

I know. As I said it is my 16th boar brush lol. I like that scent because it means it wasn't chemically treated.It's a great brush.

Yeah, one of my Omega boars really stunk of some sort of chemical treatment, VERY strong.

Great brush, give it around thirty shaves it should be well broken-in. It does take awhile.

This was a frustrating brush for me with all of the rave reviews. I’m typically a badger brush guy with a Semogue 620 (long gone) as my only other boar brush. This brush always showed promise so I kept with it. After about 100 three pass shaves, it became the brush that so many praised.
When I first acquired this brush, I face lathered. Now I bowl lather. I find this brush particularly good for bowl lathering and use it several times a month.

There is a boar brush prep I found online and I swear by it. Put the new brush in a cold cup of water then in the fridge for 24 hours. Then remove brush from fridge squeeze it and shake it. Then rub the brush into a clean towel for ten minutes. Let brush dry overnight and then ready for use. I did not use this prep on the new jade boar brush when i first used it. It has now been prepped so I plan to shave with the jade boar brush again soon. The fridge prep worked on 14 of my 15 boar brushes. This jade boar brush is my 16th.

My routine is to soak the tips up to 1/3 in Hot & Cold cycles to split the tips.
Followed by bowl lathering & soaks in MWF, tallow-free.
I've found the lanolin helps to condition the natural bristle and aids in dissipating any residual animal aromatics.

I’ve always thought this is such a classy looking handle. Probably makes for some great SOTD pics for those with camera talents.
It’s a fine brush! Mine was given on to me by a generous member here and kickstarted my ongoing interest in using boars, my preference when it comes to brushes.

I bought 2 of those years ago, I found both too poky. Boar is my favorite kind of brush, and I love that faux jade handle. Even so, the 011842 is not for me
