What's new

which are the most saught after blades for restoration projects?

I love looking through other peoples restoration projects. I'm doing one or two my self, and I'm a total newbie.
Other B&B posts with pictures are truely inspirational.

I made this post a short while ago:

A lot of 16 straights ...

and I've started on one of the blades. Now I'm waiting on some polishing gear and washers to arrive.

I'm hooked now, and always on the lookout for new (old) blades.

Which are the most saught after? Do you DIY guys have any favorites?

I too enjoy looking at the restore jobs. What's cool is that many of the old straights are 100+ yrs. and with a little effort can be made to look and use like they were made today. My favorites are the heavy Sheffields, give great shaves, however i get a really nice shave with my ol'Red Injun". Good luck.

Absolutely. It's facinating stuff. The batch of six that I picked up are german and french mostly small gauge 4/8s. Haven't come across an sheffs yet, but I'm hoping :) I'd love to find some US blades too.
