What's new

Where can I get a cheap shave bag, quick?

I'll probably go and get a better one when I can do some time and shop around, but I'm at work right now and I just found out I'm going somewhere overnight tomorrow night into Monday, and for this meeting I'd like a good shave. I work in Nassau County on Lawn Eyeland, so I'm pretty near everything as far as malls, superstores and so forth. I'm willing to spend 10 to 20 bucks, but I'm not blowing a chunk at Art of Shaving right now. I also plan to invest on a travel kit relatively soon, as I have a trip to Arizona (Phoenix, if memory serves: I was nodding out through the whole meeting) in the end of September. I'd also be extremely grateful for any suggestions for a travel kit I can fly with in a few months.

Check out TJ Maxx or Marshalls. You can find Dopp (brand) bags there. There are others that escape my mind in your price range.

Are you looking for a bag or for stuff to put in it?
For a bag, any department or discount store will have stuff. If you're looking for a travel set-up, just take your regular stuff with you.
There are no restrictions if you check bags. If you carry on you'll need to only pack liquids/gels in small containers and you'll need to sort out getting blades at your destination.

I think I might just run up to the mall and hit TJ Maxx...It's actually on the way home after work. I know I could just pack it (worse came to worse, I was gonna just dump everything I need in a plastic bag) but I wanted to look a little bit professional, as I'm getting double roomed with this real kiss *** at my job.

Thanks for the heads up for when I fly. I guess I'll just check my bag, then. I don't know where the hell I'm getting razors in AZ.

Walmart has two different Dopp bags. I got the smaller one for something like $5. Easily holds enough gear for a quick trip. They conveniently locate them right next to the shaving creams and aftershaves.

Another vote for WalMart for a quick and cheap. They have an imitation leather one that will work, and will look decent for a few trips anyway. Heck it may last a very long time. Keep in mind also that there are lots of nice canvas ones out there as well that look rather professional. Also agree that TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Burlington Coat Factory and Kohls MAY have something suitable. Those tend to be a bit hit and miss by nature, though they will probably have a somewhat higher end product than WalMart will carry, if anything is in stock.

I've noticed the nylon versions in the local WalGreens and Rite-Aides and I believe WalMart carries them as well.

I got mine from Wally World in a kit with a couple other bags, I was actually getting a garment bag to go on a cruise, anyway, the cheapo kit bag works wonders and if I have any spills, leaks, explosions, the bag just wipes right up, couldn't ask for much more.

Try to see if your local pharmacy has a AXE package that includes a free travel bag. They usually come out on Christmas but you can find them at limited supplies all season as well (they are all over ebay). As far as getting razors in AZ... This is B&B! You don't think there are any members in Arizona that are willing to help? Hit me up (I got plenty of ASTRA SP I can spare) or mail me your choice of razors and we can meet up. The other option you have is to mail the razors to the hotel you are staying at. When I fly to Vegas with a carry on I mail my razors to the hotel I am staying at with "attention" to my name for when I get there. Just make sure you give them a heads up.

My wallet cries.
Hey, pharmacies usually have a travel bag that's filled with soap (in face dove has one, fill with dove stuff) shampoo etc. You could just grab one of those and empty it. Or just go to Walmart and grab a Fanny pack and fill'er up. If it's something you need quick and dirty and won't be keeping for a while, how about that lonely sock that lost its partner? It'll do in a pinch. Or just wrap it in kleenex and shove it into an empty pringles can (or similar). Or.... you are only going for one night it looks like, why not just before you go, do that 4 pass bbs whole enchilada shave and it should tide you pretty ok, definatly tomorrow, and may Monday (which may be a travel day for you anyways). Let us know what you settle on!
