What's new

My new $7 razor is making me rethink everything

Wilkinson razors are great, yet I think I like my $25 Wilkinson more. I have to clean her up a bit before I can be sure.

Have you ever tried a vintage super-speed? you can get them for like $10. They shave great and they are all brass. The only thing worse than plastic is Zamak. Some people are paying upwards of $60 for a Zamak razor, so I guess you're not doing too bad with plastic. Your $7 plastic Wilkinson razor will probably outlast many Zamak razors, and she probably shaves better than most of those overpriced Zamak razors as well. So enjoy your new favorite toy.
Thanks esee I totally agree buddy about zamak - everything is going cheaper with faster production in general.

I have quite a few Gillette Techs , a few antique mini 4-piece brass travel ones and one Slim adjustable M3 - 1967 - I have a lot of Chinese razors because the decent vintage Gillettes go for £300-£500 in the UK just for the common ones; I had to import my '67 one and a Schick Krona from America !

A good Superspeed here is $60-$70 - Rip Off Britain !

Any sharp rigid blade place at a shallow angle has the potential to give a great shave. straight razors seem to check all the check marks, but with DE shaving we make do with a super thin flimsy blade. The science of a great razor is really not that complicating, clamp the blade well, allow a shallow angle shave, and don’t allow one to injure themselves too badly. There were, maybe still are many great razor manufacturers in Europe, and I’m sure you can get a great, reasonably priced razors in England. In the end, nothing compares to a thick sharp ridged blade like a straight or a wedge blade.
