What's new

What's the most Scray-Aggressive DE you've ever used?

I've been using a wide-open Vision loaded with Feathers for the last two years and recently switched to a straight. Have I reached the peak of DE madness?! Is there nothing more?! Someone please tell me that there's a more insane, deadly, maniacal combination that's just waiting to rip my face off. Maybe I'll just hold the Feather in my bare fingers to shave!

A wide open Vision huh? Was it adjusted down so that dialed all the way down there is no gap?

I find the Barbasol "NEW style" DE pretty aggressive.

Lol you answered your own question. The only thing more aggressive than a wide open DE is an exposed blade. That leaves a straight.

You could put some notches in your Vision to turn it into a home made open comb... that might provide a bit more thrill.

My vote has to go with the old R89 by Muhle... That thing was aggressive!

I think the scariest, most aggressive DE I shaved with was the one I found in my Christmas stocking when I was 14. :biggrin1:

You can open Gillette adjustables past the "9" setting for laughs but really, who needs a blade on a stick? I'm more interested in fine shaving with both straights and DE's.

Les

Mmmm... cough syrup...

2nd that, the Barbasol with the attached head is the only razor too aggressive for me to shave with.

Wow, I've never heard of those. If it's too much for CooncatBob, I'll gladly stay away from it!

I've been using a Slim on 9 and my heart is aflutter from the great shaves it's giving me. It's aggressive enough so that I know I'd best be on good behavior whilst using it.

I've heard that the Darwin DE is incredibly aggressive, but they are also very rare.

WWII Open Comb German Army Slant Razor loaded with a feather, made of bakelite. Check out that wicked blade exposure, I only use straights now though.

The DE as you call it, I know as a safety razor. You can obtain both a single edged and a double edged style of safety razor. Needless to say the more open the edge, the more aggressive the shave and the less safety the razor blade holder provides.

The straight as you call it I know as an open razor.

The words speak for themselves.

With an open razor, the level of aggression is dependent upon your skill in using the razor, the pressure you apply, the angle at which you hold the blade to your face and the sharpness of the blade itself. A much more satisfying way to optimise the aggression you apply to your skin. IMHO.
