I recently acquired an Eclipse Red Ring razor that has seen better days. Someone tried to repaint the red ring and got maroon paint on the bottom knurling. I got a bit of it off with my fingernail, and started to polish the rest. The paint is mostly gone and what is left where the paint was is some shiny orange/gold color. It is possible I have polished away the chrome and this is copper or brass showing through, except I don't know what is under the chrome on a red ring, and I thought it would be steel. It is also possible that I just have a little more paint to get rid of. What I have done so far is an improvement, and I do not want to cause any damage. Can anyone tell me what the base metal of an Eclipse Red Ring is?
