What Tech Is This?

I recently acquired a Tech, but am beginning to wonder which Tech it might be, or if it is a "mixed breed." The head has a date code of P2; the head is stamped with Gillette and beveled on the ends; and Cooncatbob said it was a zinc head. Neither the head OR the handle respond to a magnet. Which brings me to the handle. It is definitely ball-ended, not the heavy handle or the British style of handle base. However, the pattern on the handle looks very much like the British/Canadian style. Don't have pictures yet. Understand they are desireable, but I am NOT good at the picture thing. If necessary, I can try later but would rather see if the description here is enough. Thanks, John

70's Techs were of this style with the beveled head and aluminum handle.

Thank you Asylum Guido! That looks like mine! Don't remember seeing it on Mr. Razor's site, but that certainly looks like it. Out of curiosity, what does it weigh? What got me going was that "Techs", apparently older ones, looked to weigh as much as the Super Speed. But mine sure doesn't weigh as much as my Super Speed! Thanks again, John

I gather that zinc and aluminum then was less expensive than steel. Other than that, is there a reason to want a lighter razor? Not sure I like it all that well.

Steel was never the alternative. Nickel plated brass.

Anodized aluminum was probably cheaper than nickel plated brass for the handle. The zinc was probably cheaper than its predecessor, as it allowed it to be die-cast without machining afterward.
